View Executive BoardHistory of HBBA
From our humble beginnings as a focus group formed by the Green Bay Chamber of Commerce to our current position as Wisconsin's number one resource for word-of-mouth advertising, HBBA has had quite the history.
A Meeting of the Business Minds
HBBA started in 1998 as a focus group sponsored by the Green Bay Area Chamber of Commerce. The initial purpose of the focus group was for businesses to meet to share how their businesses began, discuss the types of problems they encountered, and find solutions to those problems together.
Taking a Stand to Protect Home Businesses
In 2003, when a neighboring town government began upgrading its ordinance, restricting its perception of legitimate home-based business to that which was defined in the mid-1900s, HBBA leadership, with the support of its members, addressed the issues in town meetings and took an active role in protecting the rights of small businesses.
Widening Our Focus to Serve All Business Types
In 2006, without forgetting our origins with the home-based businesses of our area, HBBA turned its focus to other aspects of the business world. We redefined our purpose and image in order to appeal to a wider business audience. The results paid off quickly with new chapters sprouting up in the Fox Valley area.
Reorganizing to Serve Different Geographic Regions
By 2010, interest was building in the Milwaukee area and HBBA had to reinvent itself once more to meet the needs of our members. Districts were formed to allow each region the ability to address the unique needs of area businesses while maintaining our strong relationships, ideals, and culture.
Wisconsin's #1 Resource for Word-of-Mouth Advertising
Now open to all Wisconsin businesses large and small, HBBA is quickly becoming the number one resource for word-of-mouth advertising in Wisconsin. With more than 12 chapters (and growing) in Wisconsin, HBBA is poised to become the most influential business networking organization in the state of Wisconsin and anticipates growth to accelerate in the near future.
